England football tickets won by head greenkeeper

The head greenkeeper of a Bedfordshire golf course was busy watching a different piece of turf to usual last Friday, after winning tickets to see England play Lithuania at Wembley Stadium.
Kevin Armstrong from the John O’Gaunt golf course, at Sutton Park, near Sandy, entered a Envu competition at the recent BTME exhibition in Harrogate, and was ‘astonished’ when he got a call telling him he was the lucky winner.
“I really couldn’t believe it. It was a totally unexpected call, and as a big England fan, this was one of the best prizes I could ever win,” he says.
The prize package included two tickets for the match last Friday evening (March 27) with a full hospitality package in the Bobby Moore suite at Wembley Stadium. Envu also offered two nights’ accommodation in the capital, and an Adidas Brazuca football used by football freestyler Jamie MacDonald on their stand at the event.
The John O’Gaunt golf club is a 36-hole members’ owned course, and Kevin says his biggest challenge is keeping the near-1500 members happy. “It’s difficult, as we have to disrupt the playing surface to keep the course in tip top condition, keeping the grass healthy and ensuring longevity.“We’ve been supporters of Envu’s products for many years, including Merit® Turf, Chipco® Green and Interface®, they all have a big role to play here.
“I’ve never been to a full international match before, so this was a great experience, and an opportunity for me to sample the atmosphere. My brother Wayne came with me to the match, and my wife came to enjoy the weekend. I’m certainly not in the habit of winning competitions, so this was a first.”
